While browsing this forum on Quora for inspiration, I came across this comic for the poem Invictus by William Ernest Henley. This poem is pretty well-known, easy to read and understand. So, I was excited enough by the idea of poetry + comics, but little did I know the excitement awaiting me at zenpencils.com! Not only are there a variety of inspirational comics related to prose, quotes, and poems… they are actually also (at least sometimes) serial comics! So, extra exciting is the fact that this poem/story/comic is followed up with one of my absolute FAVORITE poems– O Me! O Life! by Walt Whitman.
What do you think? Is this engaging? As a poetry lover, does this feel like it somehow diminishes the poetry? Or, when done well in this way, can it actually enhance the experience?
